Diploma in Sports and Exercise Sciences (R26)

About the Programme

As Singapore works towards becoming one of the top ten sporting nations in Asia, sports science specialists are increasingly sought after to enhance the performance of competitive athletes. The growth of the fitness and wellness industry also means that trained health and fitness personnel will be in demand.

Programme Objectives
The diploma aims to support the needs of the growing sports, fitness and health industries. It uses a multi-disciplinary approach in the study of various sports and exercise science areas.
Career Prospects

This diploma lays the foundation for careers with the following types of companies and organisations: Singapore Sports Council, National Sports Associations, golf and country clubs/resorts, sports and recreation clubs, fitness centres/gyms, schools and institutions, private sports coaching schools, sports service providers (outsourced partners with SSC and schools), health and wellness centres, HR departments in organisations (especially in workplace health promotion), sports retail shops (such as nutrition stores, apparel stores), fitness equipment and supplies companies, fitness & health promotion service providers, hospitals and physical rehabilitation centres, child development centres (motor/physical development), and so on.

Graduates who wish to pursue further education must demonstrate academic competence and apply for advanced standings in local and overseas Institutes of Higher Learning. Outstanding graduates may be able to pursue a university education at National Institute of Education (part of Nanyang Technological University), the National University of Singapore and the Singapore Management University.

Students have the opportunity to gain direct admission to prestigious universities such as University of Queensland and Brunel University. They can gain a degree via direct entry to final year with universities such as RMIT University and Northumbria University.
